April 17, 2013 marks the 120th anniversary of the founding of my sorority, Alpha Xi Delta. I am proud and delighted to be part of a wonderful organization, and to have found such wonderful Sisters throughout the country.
I really feel that I didn’t find AXiD, but that AXiD found me, and I’ve never been happier. TFJ
Finally to Austin! But, like an idiot, I’m here with zero AΞΔ identifiers like a lavaliere. I’m a serious failure. I do have a pair of sweatshirt letters, but it’s going to be 85F today so not a lot of help. Oh well.
And their charter is likely going to be revoked tonight. A pledge literally drank himself to death last night at a party after a formal dinner. The guy was a freshman.
Please please please be careful when you’re out partying. This sort of thing is beyond unacceptable for so many reasons and on so many levels. I know it may be cool to “puke and rally,” but that’s your body telling you to stop. Listen to it.
I understand that fitting in is important, but it isn’t worth dying over; if you feel this kind of pressure from the house you’re trying to join, it’s probably the wrong house anyways.
So to my fellow Greeks and lovely Alpha Xi Delta Sisters, please be safe. It isn’t worth your life. TFJ
